I read these books out of order, and now I want to read the second one again. These are set in France and Switzerland during the reign of Louis X!V. It shows how the Huguenots were persecuted in spite of the Edict of Nantes, which promised them freedom and protection. This story had romance, action and palace intrigue. Loved it.

Great read
I am not one that will pick up a historical novel but I am so glad I picked this book up.
The characters are compelling, as is their story. Golden Keys Parsons put life into history for me.
This book is based in seventeenth century France. The French Protestants (Huguenots) are being persecuted by the Catholics and forced to convert or suffer the violent consequences. The story follows one noble Huguenot family through their persecution, including a visit to the king's court at Versaille and eventual fleeing to Geneva. Madeleine.
After meeting the author I learned that the characters were somewhat based on family ancestry which made the story even more interesting to me. .
It is a fast moving story with a great plot that made me want to keep turning the pages and has a message of hope.
Although the story had a conclusion it left loose ends yet to be resolved. What happens to this family, or the other members in court.
This is a new author and I cannot wait to get the second in the series. I passed this book onto two friends and they also loved it.
