Inscribed by Thompson on the title page to Jere Real and dated 1987. Jere Real was a professor at Lynchburg College; he coordinated visits and played host to the authors who appeared at the college as part of the Thornton Writer-in-Residence and Guest Reader program. Though snug and unmarked the book has been the subject of a spill with a wave along the lower edge of the text black and a smaller wave to the first 80 or so page along a small area of the fore edge.
