This is a lively and thorough report of the camp and battle adventures of one of the great artillery units of the Civil War, written by its lieutenant from that time. W. M. Owen, the author, served as the unit's adjutant throughout the conflict and so was responsible for keeping and writing the Washington Artillery's official reports. As a result, numerous official records and reports are cited, and often provided in full, as well as Owen's own recounting. This is a great primary source for any Civil War historian or enthusiast.
