Jim Ryun is one of the great middle distance runners in track and field history. He was the first American high school student to run the mile in less than four minutes. In Quest Of Gold is an autobiography portraying the ups and downs of the author's running career. He was in the 1964, 1968, and 1972 Olympic Games. Ryun won a silver medal in the 1500 meter run at the Mexico City Olympic Games in 1968. However, at Munich in 1972, Ryun fell during one of the preliminary races and was out of medal contention. While the book is mostly about running, Ryun shares with the reader his struggles in dealing with the media, his search for purpose in life, and his story about his relationship with God. Thus, In Quest Of Gold depicts Ryun's spiritual journey as well as his progress in running during high school, college, the Olympics, and professional track. Anyone interested in running and the Olympic Games will enjoy this fast-moving and inspirational book about one of America's great Olympic athletes.
