Mr. Hibbard was for many years an active and leading member of the democratic party, Speaker of the House and President of the Senate of New Hamp shire, for Six years a member of Congress from that State, and a lawyer of high rank and reputation at its bar, who received from his political opponents, in 1871, the compliment of an appointment to its supreme court.
