Outside one of the most fashionable restaurants in Piccadilly, the big foreigner in uniform who has taken the place of the English commissionaire was preparing to receive company. He had been lolling in an easy attitude against the door-post, reading a pink extra special until the clock struck eight, but now he had begun to assume an important, not to say dictatorial, attitude toward the crawling hansoms and four-wheel ers which seemed to him to be blocking the way.
