The aim of the current study is to explore the scope of reasonable fertility decline in Bangladesh with special attention to considerable reduction of sex preference specially son preference that is prevailing among the social structure. The findings indicate that whenever sex preference would be eliminated, the percentage of women who did not demand more children would be increased significantly. Thus further fertility decline is unlikely without considerable reduction in the demand for male children.
