The strange thing is, given how quickly music comes in and out of vogue in the dance music world, that a three-CD collection of 12" versions by artists who "performed" at the Ibiza Annual '99 would be desirable to anyone at all. In retrospect, it seems as if it would be an exercise in train spotting. Nonetheless, two of the three discs here have merit in documenting the achievements of numerous acts that made it to the Mecca of modern-dance hedonism. All of the tracks are the extended 12" mixes, and virtually none of them made it onto their own full-length albums. Included are a couple of white-label versions that seem silly on a CD. Two of the highlights are Moloko's "Sing It Back" and Eclipse's "Makes Me Love You." The third disc is a mix CD by DJ Taylor, which is OK as a bonus disc, but it's doubtful anyone would play it more than once. No matter; since this package sells for the price of a single disc, it's a bargain for anyone collecting dance tracks. ~ Thom Jurek, Rovi
