In 2019, Friends of Rippey, the committee working on the celebration activities, thought about making a collection of memories about what it was like growing up, going to school, working, raising families, and enjoying life in Rippey, Iowa from the late 19th century to the early 21st century. The adventure drew everyday writers and historians from the small, rural, midwestern community. Expecting to make a booklet of ten to twenty stories, writers were surprised when the project grew to more than sixty writings. Photographs and art were added. This collection of essays about midwestern life is a labor of love by those who grew up with deep Rippey roots.
