Children quickly form special friendships and attachments with their toys, significantly when they cannot regularly interact with other little ones. Bonding with stuffed animals is a healthy part of their development and a joy to watch as they grow from babies to toddlers to children. Maybe you even remember a special toy or blanket from your childhood that helped make you feel safe and secure. Please read this book and see how a young child feels contentment as she goes through her day with her stuffed animal friends. I hope that when you read this book with your child, your little one feels the same sense of peace and contentment shown by the little girl in the book. With my young daughter, I know a book is a winner if she can sit and look through the pictures on her own, and the book can keep her occupied for more than just a few minutes. I designed the bright, colorful images in this book to appeal to very young readers. The find-it activities included in the book are simple enough that even a young toddler can do it! Please note another unique feature in this book; red-reading words. Studies have shown that babies and toddlers can visually remember how a word looks when it appears in large red letters. So when you give that word meaning, they can essentially "read" the word. It is not my goal to teach your child to read. I am not a scientist, and I have not done academic studies on the importance of red words. But I had read books from other educators about this topic. So I started teaching my daughter words using red text when she was a baby. She loved it, and it was thrilling to watch her learn! It gave us both joy, and I wished this fun technique would appear in children's books. So when I wrote a book for her, I decided to include red words as a fun feature of the book. We want our children to feel a sense of self-esteem when looking at books. They seem to accomplish this when they study and eventually identify objects in a picture, learn the colors on the page, or even learn how to read simple words. So, if they feel good about themselves when reading a book, wouldn't it make sense that they want to keep reading more books? Let's help our children develop a taste and love for reading right from the start!
