Excellent Book
This is an excellent book! The fact that the Third Edition (1963) in it's fourth reprint (1988) says a lot; however, there are some drawbacks:
The book doesn't just tell -- it shows examples of good introductions, conclusions, after-conclusions, rebuttals, minor-point rebuttals, et cetera; however, there needs to be more examples -- even though the book provides many.
There needs to be an interactive workbook of exercises that allow a student to practice writing the rhetorical forms used in building goodwill with the audience, conclusion, and after-conclusions. There needs to be practice in going from the debater's outline to a written speech.
I guess I'll have to write that book -- the pages are blank.
Still, this is a great book, especially for one written in 1963.
