The Reconciliation Commission of the Episcopal Church of New Hampshire reached out to the Black Heritage Trail of New Hampshire with an invitation to partner on a Lenten project. It was not immediately clear how a religious tradition would complement an historical interpretation of these forty events, but we agreed to collaborate. This book is our invitation to pause and reflect. The journey continues toward reconciliation and healing. When the Reconciliation Commission of the Episcopal Church of NH reached out to the Black Heritage Trail of NH in the fall of 2017 with an invitation to partner on a Lenten project, the board paused-but only for a moment-to determine how a religious purpose might fit with our secular interpretation of history. With full consensus, we agreed to collaborate for what is now a second year, resulting in two series of stories, with prayers and "collects" that follow the church's forty days of Lenten observances"--
