Good. No dust jacket. Soiled boards, interior quite good, full description below. American Book Company, New York 1858-Botany for Young People and Common Schools. First edition. Illustrated by 500 wood engravings. Quarter bound leather with gilt lettering on spine and pictorial paper covered boards. School textbook. Gilt lettering retained on spine. Precise drawings scientifically accurate. Text paper in very good shape with foxing or light stains on end papers. Owners name and date 1880 inside front cover as well as his descendant's name childishly in red on same spot, daated 1936. Somebody pressed a plant at the start of chapter 4 and the specimen is still there, dessicated and with light stain to page at that point. Cover worn at edges and front board is significantly soiled soiled some with similar staining on back also. Back board advertises Webster's dictionary.
