Tight and handsome first edition of Volume 12 in editor Hitchcock's superb "Earlier American Music" series, being facsimiles of twenty-two different Foster sheet musics published by a variety of publishers between 1844 and 1864, starting with "Open Thy Lattice, Love" and closing with "Beautiful Drummer." Originals of these sheet music are scarce and this facsimile reprint itself uncommon. From the collection of musicologist and conductor/director Paul Clinton Echols (1944-94), with his huge flamboyant ownership signature (dated "New York City / 3 November 1973") in blue ballpoint on the front flyleaf.
