Best known for his orchestral and easy listening love ballads, -- often covers of pop hits -- Holt was also a capable roots rocker when he wanted to be, and a fine songwriter. Two of his best songs are included here, "Hooligans Change Your Style" and "Up Park Camp," as well as a striking cover of "Rainy Night In Georgia," and a remake of The Paragons hit "The Tide Is High," which was a huge international smash in a cover by Blondie. This collection is a fine entry point into Holt's work, since it avoids his MOR tendencies to concentrate on solid roots rock material.
