With chapters on Gelderland, South Holland, Zeeland, Utrecht, North Brabant, Overysel, Drenthe, Groningen, Friesland and North Holland. Nicolaas Jungmann (1872-1935) was an Anglo-Dutch painter known for his landscapes and illustrations. He studied at the Rijksakademie, and along with his wife Beatrix, completed a similar topographical work on Norway and Normandy as well as Holland. Their daughters, Teresa Jungman and Zita Jungman, were one of the 'Bright Young Things' in the 1920s. In the publisher's original decorative binding. First edition of Holland in the original publisher's pictorial cloth binding with gilt. With text by Beatrix Jungman and illustrated by Nico Jungman. Â A lovely illustrated study of Holland for travel and of its history. Â Nico Jungman was an Anglo-Dutch painter, book-illustrator and decorator, best known for his landscapes. He illustrated three topographical books including this work and 'Norway' and 'Normandy' (1905). The text was written by his wife, Beatrix. With seventy five colour plates listed, this work is incomplete. The plates facing pages 8, 118, and 200 are missing. The plates facing pages 184 and 136 are detached, and the plate facing page 134 is detached and has been cut out with only the figure remaining. Collated. Â In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, very smart. There is some minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. The hinges are strained but firm. Internally, firmly bound. The pages are bright and clean with the odd spot. The plates are incomplete. Very Good.
