The excellence of the "HISTORY OF ART" book by H.W.Janson is in a rating of its own. I'd give it a "10" on the scale of 1to10, 10 being the highest rating. The content is concentrated on factual historical events in history of art from the prehistoric to the present day. It"s not boring to read this book where you would usually feel the drudgery of boring details and uninteresting words and jargon comments on art . It doesn't put you into a stuper of non-understanding vocabulary to the reader/buyer. The photographs in the book are nice, crisp, and clear and informative that gives the feeling of being right at the actual sites where the paintings, scultures, and artifacts are on exhibit at the museums of art .Its an excellent reference book that everyone should have in their library and possession. I highly recommend it . I had this book in college.
