Seller's Description:
BOOK VERY GOOD. DUSTJACKET NEAR FINE. 8vo-over 7¾"-9¾" tall. Signed by Author. 208 Pages. CLEAN, SOUND COPY WITH A BRIGHT, BEAUTIFUL DUSTJACKET IN NEW, GLOSSY BRODART. AUTHOR SALLY WATSON'S OWN PERSONAL COPY SIGNED BY HER ON THE DEDICATION PAGE. First British Edition. I purchased the book--donated by the author--through a charity auction benefiting homeless animals. This is a lovely copy of the author's scarce first book and a fine addition to any Sally Watson Collection.
I loved Sally Watson books as a kid--so I was saddened to discover that many were out-of-print (even though I managed to grab up a few copies at library sales). But now Highland Rebel is back and affordable!
These books are, it's true, a bit formulaic: spirited girl heroine is embroiled in tricky historical situation that calls for initiative and courage. Happy endings! But that fact does not prevent them from being fun reads, especially for any girl (8-11ish) who enjoys history. And the age thing is fairly broad. After all, I'm 50 and rereading them with great glee.
