Great book not only for those seeking knowledge about the secrets of the Underground Railroad, but for those interested in the history of quilting. What an ingenious way of leading fugitives to freedom! We don't give those who assisted that much credit.

Hidden in Plain View
The result of extensive research on the part of the authors and others whose information is quoted in the book. Explores the relationship between African, African American and Masonic (Prince Hall Masons) symbols used in quilts . Includes several oral histories from quilters who continue the traditions. Explains, but not in the greatest detail, how quilts were used for the passing of information in the planning of slave escapes and to slaves as they escaped on their way north and out of the Country.
