"God is good to all of us. He knows what we need better than we do. And just because he thinks it is better not to give you what you want right now doesn't mean he isn't answering you. You shall have what you ask for but not until the right time comes." Johanna Spyri, Heidi Heidi is a children's fiction published in 1881 by Swiss author Johanna Spyri. It is a story about 5-year-old Heidi and her childhood. Heidi is an orphan who was initially raised by her maternal grandmother and aunt, Dete. Shortly after her grandmother's demise, Dete found a new job and can no longer care for Heidi. Dete took Heidi to the child's paternal grandfather up the mountain. The mountaintop inhabitants expressed concern regarding the young child living with a bitter old man who has become reclusive and even rejects religion. Nevertheless, Heidi was left in his care and they eventually settled. Heidi enthusiastically befriends the villagers, especially their neighbors Peter- a young goatherd, his mother, and his blind grandmother. Her grandfather, though, refuses to allow Heidi to attend school. After three years, Dete returns to get Heidi as she found the child a job as a hired lady's companion. She will be accompanying a wealthy girl named Clara Sesemann, who is unable to walk and is regarded as an invalid. Clara was charmed by Heidi's intelligence and cheerful personality, her simple friendliness as well as Heidi's stories of the village she sorrowfully left. Despite getting along with Clara, the Sesemanns' servants and strict housekeeper made Heidi so unhappy that she desperately misses the mountains. With her homesickness came ghostly sightings- which turned out to be Heidi sleepwalking. The doctor recommends she be sent home as a matter of urgency. Is this the end of Heidi's happy life and her friendship with Clara? Will she be able to go back to the mountains? Get your copy now to find out!
