Gibley Horn, Tory M.P. for Rossford near Glasgow, is at the age of 58 one of the more senior Parliamentary warhorses, but he has not made the grade. After nine years of service to his constituency he is starting to weary of doing good. On the other hand, amongst his constituents, the feeling is about that the time has come for him 'to make way for a younger man'. The political wolves are after him with intent to pull him down. They have almost succeeded when he is rescued from his agonizing circumstances by strange chances of a Private Member's Bill. The story of the Spotted Hummerfly Protection Bill, with all its vicissitudes, is not only highly entertaining but gives an insight into modern politics and parliamentary life. Not even Parliamentary Committees can be dull when recounted by Teddy Taylor.
