Dust jacket has some wrinkling, chipping, crease and tiny tear on the edges and corners, scattered light scratches, rubbing and scuffing, tanning and light shelf wear. Book lightly bowed cover, some bumped corners, wrinkling on the spine edges, light tanning and fading on the cover edges, moisture soiled on the sides near the hinge on the endpapers, 4" diagonal crease on the lower part of the title page, light discoloration and shelf wear. With a foreword by George Plimpton, sixteen pages of photographs, and scores of colorful on-and off-the-field stories, Heart of a Lion gustily recreates the original "life in the fast Layne." 9.5"x6.5", 207 pages. Satisfaction Guaranteed. Bobby Layne (Robert Lawrence Layne) was an American football quarterback who played for 15 seasons in the National Football League. He played for the Chicago Bears in 1948, the New York Bulldogs in 1949, the Detroit Lions from 1950-1958, and the Pittsburgh Steelers from 1958-1962. Layne was selected by the Pittsburgh Steelers with the third overall pick of the 1948 NFL draft. He played college football at the University of Texas. Layne was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1967 and the College Football Hall of Fame in 1968. His number, 22, has been retired by the University of Texas Longhorns and Detroit Lions.
