Insightful poetic helpful
Interestingly, I carried this book around from apartment to house to apartment for the last 20 years always intending to read it. I guess like Parsifal in the tale Johnson uses in his book, I wasn't ready. Now at 45, I picked this up and was welcomed into a rich, symbolic world of this Jungian analyst as he helps us men understand our challenges in life, and what some of these may mean for us. The book is so short, there's no need to recast his thoughts here; there have been other books that talk about men at mid-life and the challenges they face (Hillman's and Bly's books come to mind), but in my searching, this book leaves me still sitting in the rich, poetic insights that Johnson weaves. Go read it and see for yourself.
