Wispelwey's execution is graceful and seemingly effortless. The third movement of the C major concerto is incredibly fast and exciting; the lightness of the period instruments makes it sound all the more shimmering and exhilarating. The cadenzas, all written by Wispelwey save for one, are quite modern sounding and may take a little getting used to. They certainly do not detract from the overall performance.The other piece on the album is a chamber transcription of Symphony No. 104 by Haydn's contemporary and patron J.P. Salomon.
