The historian Taqiyyud Deenul Maqreeziyy (d. 1441; 845 AH) said: When Sultan Salaahud Deen Yusuf ibn 'Ayyoob (d. 1193; 589 AH) became the ruler he ordered the adhaan-callers [mu'adhineen] to recite from the minarets during the last third of the night the creed known as The Guiding Creed. The mu'adhineen continued reciting it every night from all the mosques of Egypt until our time.
