Joseph Wambaugh's recent Hollywood-set novels seem much lighter than his vintage work (Onion Field, Choirboys, etc). The surfer cops are getting tiresome. This is lightweight "beach read" stuff by comparison. I try to read all of Wambaugh's books, but I'm losing confidence in his next effort.
