Rigney is a very experienced and able fiddler; there's no doubt about that. And he loves his Louisiana music, as is evident from several of the selections here. To be fair, they do mix it up a bit, including material like "Annie's Reel" and "Firefly Waltz," and finishing up with a barnstorming version of the standard "Orange Blossom Special." Too often, though, this seems like less than the sum of its parts -- well-played, good material, but it never comes together and to create something greater than itself.
