An diese Einbrüche der Wirklichkeit ins Spiel knüpft er die Frage nach dem Ursprung des tragischen Geschehens, nach der Quelle der Tragik, die er eben in der historischen Wirklichkeit findet. Carl Schmitt, geboren 1888 in Plettenberg, lehrte als Professor für Verfassungs-und Völkerrecht in Greifswald (1921), Bonn (1922), Berlin (Handelshochschule, 1926), Köln (1932) sowie an der Universität Berlin (1933-1945). Seine Definitionen der Begriffe Politische Romantik und Politische Theologie, Souveränität, Diktatur, Legalität und Legitimität sowie des Politischen (Freund-Feind-Theorie) hatten starken Einfluß weit über die Grenzen Deutschlands und seines Faches hinaus. Der Autor verstarb-96jährig-1985 in seinem Geburtsort.
