Anthony Hamilton (b.1779)enlisted in the 43rd Light Infantry and served in the battle of Vimiero, Corunna, Busaco, Ciudad Rodrigo, Badajoz, Salamanca and Vittoria. In thelatter he was captured by the French. After service in the West Indies, Hamilton was discharged at Quebec in 1819 as a sergeant, eventuallysettling in the United States.
