Hall and Oates
There is very little information about Hall and Oates "out there" for those of us who would really like to know them better. The book unfortunately leaves us in 1984, and nothing really substantive has been written since, but at least this book exists. I have always been interested in how an artist evolves. I envy no one anything as much as their talents, and to have insight into the "beginning" fascinates me. I appreciated the few pearls that let me know a bit about the process of creating such beautiful lyrics and music. These artists have remained very elusive throughout their careers, and while I respenct their need for a private life, those of us who find their music to be sheer pleasure, can't help wondering what makes them tick. This book does at least try to give us a glimpse into some of those things. Hall is the more remote, moody, genius. Oates is the more upbeat, outgoing one. Who'd a thunk it?
