There may be something a little more than vaguely familiar about the seamless acoustic blend of "sister guitarists" Sergio Lara and Joe Reyes. First, there's the subtle rhythmic variations within an infectious flamenco framework. Then, those lightning fast note races with both participants running literally neck and neck. Finally, there are other, more loping statements with jungle soundscape and relaxed imagery. And at the heart, two true pop-world beat soulmates from San Antonio. Except for their goegraphical roots, everything on this album smacks of another famous pop-world beat duo. Which makes for a stirring emotional and infinitely finger snapping experience, if not a wholly original one. On the other hand, it's been over three years since Strunz & Farah's last release, so why not fill the hunger of their fans with the next best thing? Though the tempos vary from tune to tune, the real majesty of this disc is in its weaving of a whole tapestry full of different shades of the same musical colors. Some pieces are frenetic, others sort of lope along, but the flow goes down like a cool Corona in a dusty cantina. Just don't tell S&F that these new kids are in town, primed to take over their gig. ~ Jonathan Widran, Rovi
