Seller's Description:
Hanuman Books has issued titles from 1986 to 1993 out of the Chelsea Hotel by its creator Raymond Foye, art critic and editor at large, and Italian painter Francesco Clemente. The books though never beautifully produced and with slight flaws at times were influenced by Indian prayer books. Their small size and bright in color were well dedicated to the writings of the particular poet or artist or outsider. Though the books might be somewhat slight in production, mainly they were all gems. Often they were published as 12 books in a year over the spring and fall. They were printed on letterpress in Madras. The pages were sewn together by local fisherman as the tale goes and others. Basically the books hold to a 3 x 4 dimension. Rene Ricards book being the exception. In the early years the books had an informal distribution. And then they were employed by professional distribution. Basically the books were best distributed hand to hand. Part of Series II. Gift quality as new and unread. With pictorial dustjacket. Huncke photograph on the front cover. Slight age tone to back cover. Unread.
