Subsequently, Sumner7 and Jesse7 Stone established a large cotton commission business in New York City, from which they soon realized considerable fortunes. Sumner7 Stone was a business man of energy, excellent judgment, and the highest integrity, was uniformly successful, and died at Dobbs Ferry, N. Y., 18 Oct., 1855. He married at Macon, Ga., 28 June 1826, Elizabeth B. Wick, born 9 May 1801, died 10 Mar., 1896. Children: i. Jane Wick8, b. in Macon, Ga., 25 Apr. 1827. ii. Sumner Rice, b. in Newark, N. J., 8 Sept. 1828; succeeded (with his brother Edwin) to the cotton commission business established in New York by their father Sumner7 Stone and their uncle Jesse7 Stone. This business was carried on over sixty years by the two generations of the family. He was a member of the Stone Family Association. He m. at Brooklyn, N. Y., 12 Oct. 1859, Mary M. Hitchcock, b. 15 June 1836, daughter of Cyrus and Caroline M. (Sleight) Hitchcock. Children b. in Brooklyn, N. Y.: 1. Mary Sumner9, b. 6 Sept. 1860. 2. Elizabeth Butler, b. 9 Jan. 1862. 3. Caroline Matilda, b. 30 Mar. 1863; m. at Ossining, N. Y., 27 Oct. 1886, Francis S. Phraneb, b. 14 Nov. 1858. Children b. in Summit, N. J. (Phraner): 1. Elizabeth Caroline, b. 12 Jan. 1890. 2.
