Not Stated. Good. A nicely bound illustrated copy of this French work on art and interiors. French art and interior design book with many black and white illustrations and 10, (of 11 called for) chromolithographs. Examines the influence of Japanese art on European design. Charles Blanc (November 4, 1813, Castres (Tarn)-January 17, 1882, Paris) was a French art critic, brother of Louis Blanc. After the February Revolution of 1848, he was director of the department for the visual arts at the ministry of the interior. He published the Histoire des peintres de toutes les coles (Par. 1849-69, 14 Vols. ), which was translated to English and German. In a quarter calf binding with marbled paper to the boards. Externally, smart. A little bumping and rubbing to the extremities. A little fading to the spine. Hinges are starting but firm. Internally firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean with the odd spot and handling mark. A little staining to the top of pages throughout. Lacks one coloured plate. Good.
