This is an assembly book for pupils aged from four to nine years. It is designed particularly to help with the tasks of fostering exploration and development, extending practical experience, and increasing children's awareness of issues in the world. The first section of the book consists of over 60 assemblies which can be used without further preparation. Each has a short passage to set the scene, a story, thoughts/prayers, and further information and references. The stories are taken from a wide range of sources and are grouped in four themes - people, creatures, qualities, and special occasions. These are followed by ten detailed assemblies for class presentation, together with background information and production notes. The third section lists ideas for drama in assembly, and shows how some of them might be developed into a dramatic presentation. It also includes two scripted plays, which are photocopiable, and the book ends with suggestions for music and further resources.
