America has always been a transient society. When the pioneers ventured across the vast mountains and settled in the wilderness that became Kentucky, the yearning for social engagement became crucial. The curious, wandering traveler was always welcome to stop for a rest; to visit and partake of a meal or refreshment while spinning yarns of his wondrous adventures. Any excuse for a social gathering was accepted, and food was most certainly an important part of any group related activity. The favorite recipe was shared. Many became known by their special dish. Kentuckians became well-known for exceptional hospitality and phenomenal cuisine.
