Seller's Description:
Very Good. First edition. 334pp. Original blue cloth, gilt-stamped spine title (dulled). Spine darkened with ends starting to fray, else very good. Inscribed by the author on the front endpaper: "To Lieutenant Saville T. Clark-With affection and esteem-John Crowe Ransom, August 19, 1931." Ransom's own thoughts that a vengeful God would be better for society than a gentle Jesus, but his admittance that religion is only man-made makes his argument invalid.
