This book was slow to get into. Lots of background and the pace of events was different from some of his other books (more in line with some of the clan corporate books). Don't give up on it though. As the plot develops more and more things make you think about life, the universe and everything (Ok that last bit was a touch cheesy). As I said at the beginning, different, which in charles stross' case is ok
