Let me say at the start that i am a great admirer of Studs Terkel. However.....this book is a very superficial study of the greats of Jazz. I can't imagine it being interesting other than to someone who knew little or nothing about Jazz and wanted this type of trite bio just to get an idea of who these great artists were. It is something that might be used in a junior high school curriculum.
