Well read with authentic NC accents. The story, however, although historically accurate, is rather dull.It reminded me of learning American history in high school.

Ghost Rider
McCrumb knits ghost tales, Civil War History and modern days into a very enjoyable yarn. Her description of live in Appalachia is quite vivid., and her characters are very well described. As Civil War reinactors gather in a field, a long-time resident sees Civil War Soldiers hidden in the woods just beyond the edge of the field. At first, he thought they were just his imagination, and thought they were just stragglers from the group. However, after seeing them several times, realized that their uniforms were truly authentic. He wondered if the reinactors had somehow, unwittingly, drawn the strangers. Then McCrumb goes on to describe the Soldiers, and their terrible struggles. The blending of Civil War history and modern times within this book creates a fascinating read!
