Everything Sayers wrote was impeccable and they say she saw herself in both Harriet and Peter! I find that easy to believe!
This is one of my favorite books ever by anyone;as a daughter of academia I was fascinated by the women's struggles between two worlds, I was fascinated by Harriet's conflicts over the role of love in an academic woman's breast, or did it even have one!
Gaudy Night is catnip for scholars it's full of wonderful obsvcervations to keep the mind alive! This book, Gaudy Night & Busman's Honeymoon, in which P and H finally marry and find a dead body in their "honeymoon cottage" are among my favorite romances; some romance and lots of detecting!
