In the first section of the book an attempt is made to introduce research in a straightforward manner by discussing its meaning, its relevance to nursing and some methodological as well as ethical principles. This is followed by examples of research which illuminate the nursing care of specific groups of patients. Finally, the focus moves to a number of more general nursing issues such as pressure area care, the role of clinical observations and manpower planning. The book concludes with a chapter which glimpses into the future and examines the role of research as a change agent.
