This book provides a comparative analysis of the funds and portfolio management industry in the most advanced European countries and in the United States of America. It is organized in seven parts, the first of which is devoted to giving a broad picture of the market as a whole, including the main management institutions operating in the market. The other six parts deal with the analysis of the operational, marketing and managerial problems, in particular in the various kinds of management institutions. These have been grouped in six main types, namely: open-end mutual funds; closed-end mutual funds; real estate investment funds; money market funds; pension funds; and trust and portfolio management. In order to present the reader with a comparative study of the international situation, each part of the book comprises specific sections based on a survey of the most important national markets in which those specific institutions operate. Authors have been selected from both the academic world (represented by the leading universities and business schools in their countries), and from the operational world (Chief Executives of outstanding institutions in their fields of business).
