On their third album, From Whence Came the Cowboy, Sons of the San Joaquin rely almost entirely on original songs, which are all written in the cowboy and western tradition. If the group wasn't able to write convincingly, the album would be a stilted paean to forgotten ways, but they effortlessly captures the spirit of the West, making it an evocative and intriguing listen, and their best album to date. ~ Thom Owens, Rovi
