Williams brings his high esteem and passion to the conductor's chair, taking charge of the "Boston Pop's Orchestra" as an orchestrated treat for all listeners. This selection features classically-influenced scores, music of the big band and marching era, and bossa nova flavors added in. The innocent and sorrowful yet promising "Send in the Clowns" is presented here with fervent emotion, sure to send a tear to the listener's eye. In all its radiant beauty, the theme "Flying" from Steven Spielberg's E.T. is inspiring and encouraging beyond doubt, lifting ones heart across the full moon, with E.T. side by side. John Phillip Sousa's lively marches, "Stars and Stripes Forever," and the "Washington Post March" are conducted here with class and patriotism. "Remembrances," featured in the film Schindler's List, is haunting in mood, expressing themes of sorrow and death, despair and loss: a sincere statement by Williams. "Cherokee" is certainly the swingin' tune of the bunch. Through the awesome scope of texture, and brilliant sense of variety in instrumentation, John Williams paints a picture composed of a full palate of emotions for the engaging listener.
