Bethany Jones Powell was born in England, and transplanted to the heart of Jamaica as a child. Her father, the Rev. Pearce Jones, moved the entire family when he accepted the call to be minister to 3 churches and chaplain at the high school Clarendon College. They bravely traipsed across the Atlantic by ship, slowly following hurricane Flora through the Caribbean to Jamaica. The youngest of five, she attended primary and secondary school in Jamaica, becoming a Jamaican in the process. After high school she returned to England to train as a nurse and has lived in South Florida since then. Thanks to the diversity of her adopted home, she has been able to remain entrenched in the Jamaican culture. She returned to school some years ago and found a way to channel her passion for nursing into a new career, as a nursing instructor. While continuing to pursue academic goals, she has explored alternative healing modalities such as Reiki and Therapeutic Touch, but writing was always a hobby. In 2011, she started posting her Friday Morning Messages on Facebook each week in memory of her father. As chaplain, he led devotions at the school every Friday morning. He was famous for illustrating his inspirational messages with amusing stories. "And is true, you know!" he would say. Thousands of students were inspired by his Friday morning messages. This book is a selection of some of the messages she has posted and which she continues to write. Her messages close with her tribute to Jamaica: "One Love", and the Sanskrit salutation "Namaste" which means "the light which is within me greets the light that is within you." She lives in Miami with her extended family.
