Good+, original gilt stamped green cloth (hardcover) SEE NOTE. 552pp & 576pp. A very nice clean and tight set, however NOTE: the plates (only) exhibit foxing since printed on different stock of paper from text pages; some blindstamping on cover of Volume II has been crayoned in; and, in Volume I is a pressed corsage tied in white silk ribbon that I could just not toss out. A few nice set coming from the estate of the original family that purchased it.

Two volumes. Small 4to, pp. 551; 576. Tan cloth, blind stamped, with pictorial stamping and lettering in gilt. Illustrated wtih full-page steel engravings and many wood engravings in text. Worn. 2 engraved half-titles with vignettes, pp.552, 576, errata slip, 14 steel engraved plates, all with tissues and captions, numerous wood-engraved illustrations throughout, original purple cloth, gilt decorated on upper cover and spines, gfaded, binding loose, nearly good. Heavy set-extra postage. The first volume contains a "brief history with some account of the natural history of the horse......" The second volume " perhaps, of broader interest, will be found to contain accounts of the general horsestock of America; the horsestock of the various States; the various distinct families, ...with memoirs and pedigrees....."
