I was drawn to the Book of Psalms, and David's forty-two entries, for the same reasons, I pray, you will be drawn to those God-inspired writings-I wanted to read something that was written by a man whom God called "A man after His own heart," I Samuel 16. After reading David's Psalms, I discovered that most of his prayers were relatively close to the prayers that I gave God, even my unspoken words were written by King David, a man after God's own heart. As I began to be inspired by the words of this man overcome by temptation and trials, but who understood the mercy of His Loving God-his refuge, provider, and strength-I began to write this book, that was written over a 3-1/2 year-long journey; and, along that path, I discovered that King David's psalms written in the Holy Bible, and these Forty-Two Modern Day Psalms, both have a significant similarity, such a significant similarity that it has changed the way I look at life- the past, the present, and the future-and these psalms unlock all the strongholds, and all the chains of the past, and remove all obstacles from our present, and keep us on a guided tour of our destiny, this being the Holy Spirit that abides within all of us. The same Spirit that birthed out the Psalms of David, today this Spirit births out Forty-Two Modern-Day Psalms. These 42 prayers, out of 150 already written, was the Holy Spirit guiding my hand, and today I share them with you the reader. These psalms depict a man that experienced life's lowest points to discover these truths. As these psalms began to shape my life, I began to identify with David's writings. I began to be inspired to lead others to those psalms. My hopes in writing Forty-Two Modern-Day Psalms is to invite the reader to discover that no matter the circumstances, the trials, or the pain you suffer, there is hope; and that hope rest in today the very same thing it rested in long ago-God's amazing love and grace, and His mercy that even David said centuries ago, endures forever. Today, I only wish to agree with my dear friend, David, that God's mercy still endures today, and His love and kindness invites us into His presence, where we can come boldly and confidently to His throne of Grace. As David wrote and struggled upon his journey, yet staggered not at the promise, you today have an expected end of promise. I found out that despite David's folly and shortcomings, that the power of God, that was in him, to overcome thousands in battle, Goliath, today, that power remains in us to overcome our giants and our personal battles; and as all guilt, or shame and condemnation is removed, we can embrace these psalms for what they truly are-an instrument of God's love to invite us to gain knowledge, of which some is strife because it challenges the way we believe and see in our life.
