In light of the beautiful way she describes the life of horses and those who love them in her best-known trilogy (My Friend Flicka, Thunderhead, and Green Grass of Wyoming) it was a surprise to discover that she wasn't born and raised on a ranch in Wyoming, but instead only spent part of her life with her second husband there, having met him when both of them were working in the motion picture business in California. I found the book both interesting and absorbing. It was very nice to finally make her acquaintance; although I've read and re-read her books since I was a little girl I had never known anything about the author. I recommend this book.
