This book answered many questions for me. I was a POW of Japan from December 25, 1941 until September 1945. I had always wondered about the atomic bombs and their impact on the civilian population, although that has been chronicled many times. I guess that the euphoria of being free in 1945 clouded my interest in the facts of the bombing. That Mr. Weller was able to pose as a colonel and gain access to the bomb site is something of a marvel. It is a pity that McArthur thwarted his efforts to tell the world. This book gave me a new respect for journalists. I recommend it highly.
